Our History

Greenhous history

With a turnover of over £1.2 billion and 28 sites throughout the country, Greenhous is one of the largest automotive groups in the UK.

Over 100-years of history

Founded in 1912 by Vincent Greenhous, the Company originally provided a public bus service from Bishop’s Castle in Shropshire to the county town, Shrewsbury. Mr Greenhous moved the business to Shrewsbury in 1919 and soon after began selling Chevrolet cars and trucks. When General Motors bought Vauxhall in 1926, Greenhous became one of its first distributors.

Mr Greenhous’s son, Patrick, continued the family business until his retirement when he sold the company to its senior management. Although no longer a family firm, Greenhous has retained many of the traditions started by the Greenhous family.

A proud history – an even more exciting future

At Greenhous, while we are incredibly proud of our history, our outlook is firmly forward looking. We are continually innovating and evolving within our organisation as we look to continusouly develop and grow; whether that be through working with new brand partners, growth through acquisition and continued investment in our sites and nationwide infrastructure.
